Committee Chair Meeting

Communication: Niki Bisor reporting

Niki Bisor and Jamita Barnett, the new website coordinator, had a meeting on 4/27/01. The changes that the communications committee had already come up with and suggestions that Jamita had were discussed. It was decided that the website changes would be done in a multiphase process.  The first phase will be to get the BlackAggies.org Directory feature up and running. This will allow Black Former Students to input their contact info on the website. The Search Directory feature will be next and then other recommended changes will follow.

 

Jamita will be the website coordinator, but Niki and the Communications committee will continue to feed her suggestions and changes.  The first set of changes is scheduled to be done by 5/11. Future changes and their schedule of completeness will be sent to the committee as those decisions are made.

 

Constitution & By-Laws: Ken Robinson reporting

The final draft of the constitution is available for review on the BlackAggies.org website.

 

 

Old Business

  1. Texas A&M Foundation – BFSN Endowment. The deadline for contributing to this endowment is five (5) years. As of 3/15, only $1500 had been contributed.  The amount needed is $40,000.
  2. Reunion Finances - The final reunion expense sheet was submitted on 4/17/01. The reunion overspent $2,769.36 that the President's office has agreed to cover. This amount must be reimbursed by the next reunion or as soon as possible.

 

New Business

1.     Startup Strategy and Schedule - The Consolidation committee will organize a meeting to adopt the new constitution as well as providing information to the BFSN Steering Committee on the process of consolidation with the Association of Former Students. The final draft of the constitution has been completed. There may be minor changes before it is ratified at the BFSN Steering Committee meeting scheduled for 5/19/01. All Steering Committee members should review the constitution before this meeting.

2.     Open Discussion - It was discussed and decided to keep the existing BFSN Steering Committee intact until a board is elected for BFSN. Election of BFSN board members will be held the 1st or 2nd weekend in February 2002. There will be mail-out ballots as well as online voting. In addition, on the election weekend there will be a meeting in College Station to allow the BFSN body to get to know the candidates. Any member that from the BFSN body who meets the candidate qualifications will be allowed to run for a position.
